NaNoWriMo
I’ve signed up to NaNoWriMo 2011.
** UPDATE 3rd Dec 2012 : My carpal tunnels didnt like november very much. On the other hand I have 4 false starts to play with for ideas for 2012
National Novel Writing Month ( for anyone that wants to know what that is )
I get unprovoked suggestions from people who read the stuff that I do write, that I should possibly consider giving it a serious go. Which is the bit that scares the bejesus out of me. I’ve written and been writing for years. I have piles of notebooks and files and scribbles. All of it short stuff, or unfinished, which I then delete, burn, shred, destroy. I know I’ve written my hundred thousand words of drek before I can start for real. I just can’t offer any actual proof.
So I set myself a goal this year to write 50k words minimum with a start, middle and end. There should be a plot and some characters. I should finish the damn thing. It doesnt have to be perfect, it doesnt even have to be very good. I just have to finish it.
To see if I can.
Because if i can, then there’s no excuse not to give it a go for real, is there?
Two Thousand Words a day. Pfft. Nothing.
Between now and november I just need a plot.
I’ll check under the couch.
**UPDATE 17th October 2011
No, still not got a plot yet. However, I have spent loads of time researching the best writing software for ones iPad. If that’s not proper procrastination I don’t know what is !!
I may extend one of the travel journals a bit.
Or Something.
